A Dark Romance at The Refinery: Grace & Zach’s Halloween Wedding

This wasn’t a wedding that played it safe.
It was moody, romantic and designed to linger long after the candles burned out.

Set on Halloween at The Refinery in Brisbane, their celebration was dark, romantic and unapologetically atmospheric - inspired by the theme “Dracula’s Rose Garden.” A little gothic, a little romantic, and entirely intentional, this wedding was a masterclass in mood, intimacy and design-led storytelling.

Ceremony with Serious Atmosphere

Their ceremony space was anchored by a sculptural floral installation - abundant, grounded and dramatic without overpowering the moment itself. Layered textures, trailing forms and tonal florals framed Grace & Zach as they exchanged vows, creating a sense of enclosure and focus that made the ceremony feel deeply personal.

Designed in collaboration with Til Death Events, the styling leaned into darkness and romance while maintaining balance and restraint. The result was moody, immersive and emotionally charged - a ceremony that felt both intimate and unforgettable.

Tablescapes by Candlelight

As the sun dipped, the reception came alive under flickering candlelight.

Long tables dressed in soft linens were layered with floral arrangements that spilled and climbed, weaving through tapered candles and glassware. Deep red roses, textural foliage and seasonal blooms evoked the wild abundance of a rose garden at dusk, softening the industrial edges of the venue.

The room felt intimate, romantic and just a little dangerous - in the best possible way.

Details That Told a Story

From Grace’s bouquet - rich, textural and intentionally imperfect - to the mirrored signage, layered florals and considered styling moments throughout the space, every detail served the overall narrative.

Nothing was overdone. Nothing was accidental.

This wedding worked because Grace & Zach trusted the mood, trusted their creative team, and leaned fully into design as a storytelling tool.

A Perfect Match of Couple & Venue

The Refinery is known for its bold, industrial personality - and this wedding met it with equal confidence. Dark walls, soaring ceilings and raw textures provided the perfect canvas for florals that were expressive, sculptural and deeply romantic.

Grace & Zach didn’t try to soften the venue - they amplified it.

And the result was unforgettable.
